America’s most popular sporting event returns this Sunday when the Los Angeles Rams and New England Patriots go head to head in an attempt to win Super Bowl LIII. Every year the Superbowl is the most watched television event in the United States and this year will be no different. With a 3:30 pm start time, the Super Bowl is the perfect excuse for Sunday Funday in San Diego. If you’re only in it for the commercials and food – you’ve come to the right place. We’ve found the best places in town serving food and drink deals while the game is on.
If you’re in North County, head to Searsucker Del Mar to watch the game and enjoy games and giveaways throughout the day. Because beer and football go together like peanut butter and jelly, Searsucker will be offering $15 Bud Light Buckets and special Team-Themed Cocktails. When you get hungry, order the Bourbon Roasted Whole Pig, which comes with country baked beans, skillet cornbread, collard greens, and roasted corn on the cob. There will also be LA Street Tacos for the Rams fans in the house and a New England Lobster Roll in honor of the Patriots. Festivities start at 1 pm but will go into the night, long after the game has ended.
Recommended by Sports Illustrated as one of the best places in the nation to watch the Superbowl, you won’t want to miss Barleymash this Sunday. Located in the Gaslamp district in Downtown, Barleymash is a favorite with tourists and locals alike. While you wait for kickoff, order a plate of Over Roasted Beer-Brined Chicken Wings and a few pitchers for the table. If you’re still hungry after, we recommend the All-American Burger (pictured above) to go with your All-American Super Bowl Sunday. Because we know you’ll want a beer or two, Barleymash has 28 beers on tap, some from local breweries, and of course, classic American favorites like Coors Light.
With countless TVs, endless beer on tap, and delicious food – it’s as if Draft Republic was built for the SuperBowl. A staple of the famed Cohn Restaurant Group, Draft Republic has two locations in La Jolla and Carlsbad. If you’re watching at the La Jolla location, the game will be played on a 100-foot projection screen, but if you’re in Carlsbad, you’ll have to settle for one of 50 flat screen TVs. Both locations will be offering great all day happy hour specials, making this spot a must for anyone looking to capitalize on greats deals. We recommend ordering the Philly Cheesesteak Fries, which are served with shaved sirloin beef, beer cheese and banana peppers on top of a bed of fresh french fries. If you’re looking for a lighter option, you can’t go wrong with the Niçoise Salad (pictured above.) As if you weren’t already sold, they have 38 beers on tap.
Park 101 will be showing the big game outside on their projector, making it the perfect spot to enjoy sunny San Diego and some football with your friends. If you like wings, Park 101 is the place to be as Smoked Wings will be half off during the entire game. If wings aren’t your things, there’s still plenty of other great options on their menu, like the BBQ Pork Sandwich (pictured above) topped with sriracha, coleslaw, pickle, and crispy seasoned onions. Drink deals will include $5 Cupcake Prosecco Mimosas and $20 buckets of Tecate or Kona beer, a step up from the typical Bud Light deals at most bars and restaurants.
Down south in Pacific Beach, Duck Dive will be hosting likely the rowdiest Superbowl party of them all. Not for the faint of heart, this spot will fill up fast so make sure you plan accordingly and get there with enough time to grab a seat. Duck Dive will be offering a $20 Touchdown Platter with wings, calamari, fries, and veggies; and $10 Flatbread Pizzas. Drink deals include $20 Miller Lite Buckets and $7 Coors Light Steins. After the game, stick around for more partying as Duck Dive will stay open until 2 am. Touchdown Foodies!
Where will you be watching the game? We’d love to hear about it on our Facebook page!
