Festival season is quickly approaching and no we aren’t talking about Coachella. You can skip the long lines and dirty porta potties because we’re talking about something a little sweeter, food festivals! There’s still live music, just a lot more grub. As with music festivals, there’s a food festival for everyone. From tater tots to all you can eat brunch you’re sure to find your next festival fix!

Yes, you read that correctly. The nationwide Tater Tots and Beer Festival is touching down in Balboa Park from 3-6pm to grace San Diego with variations of tots and beer. When you arrive you’ll be given a passbook to stamp each brewery you visit, which will include Stone, Lagunitas, Karl Strauss and Lost Abbey just to name a few. Tater Tots & Beer is 21+ so make sure to grab a few tots for the kiddos on the way out. This event appears to be sold out, but you may still be able to score a ticket online. Best Coast Beer Festival 3.11.17
Del Mar Fairgrounds
San Diego has a plethora of beer festivals to choose from, but Best Coast Beer Festival isn’t one to miss. The festival has been donating to Cancer for College, a foundation that grants college scholarships to survivors, for over 20 years. Aside from benefiting society on their downtime, Best Coast Beer Festival will be bringing over 100 breweries to the Del Mar fairgrounds from 2-5pm for a day of drinking, eating, and supporting a good cause. Just about every brewery you can think of will be in attendance, but we’re especially excited to see Eppig, Belching Beaver, Elysian and Hillcrest Brewing. You can still grab tickets, but make sure you act fast before prices go up!
Sabor Latino Food, Beer & Wine Festival 3.18.17
Without Latino culture, San Diego would be far different than it is today. Sabor Latino Food, Beer & Wine Festival will pay homage to our Latino chefs by bringing a day of food, art, and drinks to Fashion Valley. The festival is being put on by the San Diego Latino Film Festival, which donates all proceeds from the festival to San Diego’s Media Art Center youth education and outreach programs. The festival will have top chefs from Birria Barriga, La Mestiza, Olivia, and Mantou to name a few. Beer will be supplied by Lagunitas, Border X, Baja Brew Lab and Novo Brazil Brewing. Come from 1-5pm for some fun north of the border!
Marina Park North
Calling all winos! Uncorked is back for another day of gourmet food trucks, wine, and fun. Uncorked will have over 60 wineries and 150 wines. Translation, you should schedule that Uber right now. Uncorked goes from 12 pm until 4 pm so you have all day to lounge with your girlfriends and enjoy a glass, or three, of vino on the grass. Uncorked hasn’t released their winery or food truck list, but they never disappoint.
Spring is in the air, and it’s time to eat. Enjoy the festival season, foodies! You know we will. Happy Chomping!
