Spring has officially sprung in San Diego county! With this comes outdoor-friendly events for foodies and sun worshippers alike. Whether you like chowing down on steak or grabbing a quick bite from a food truck, there is something for everyone this April.

This weekend, Hillcrest will come alive for Taste of Hillcrest. Over 35 local restaurants participate in the event by giving foodies samples of their most popular fares. This event is a self-guided walking tour, allowing you to take as much or as little time as you’d like at the participating restaurants. Participating restaurants include; Baja Pizzeria, Gossip Grill, Lotus Thai, and Crest Cafe. At Crest Cafe, try their famous Patty Melt, served on grilled rye with a burger patty, cheddar cheese, and grilled onions. Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 on the day of the event. Don’t miss Taste of Hillcrest if you’re looking for an affordable, food-filled weekend.

Taking place in Balboa Park, the Spring Fling Food Truck Festival is perfect for families looking to get out and experience different types of food in one place. For five days, the parks Central Mesa will be transformed into a mobile food festival with 50+ of Southern California’s most popular food trucks in attendance. The event will start at noon daily, with live entertainment starting at 4 pm. Some of the participating trucks include; Born in Brooklyn, Marcel Belgian Waffles, and Dang Brother Pizza. This is a free event so you can spend your money on the trucks, not the entrance fee.

Head to Liberty Station after work on Wednesday, April 24th for Taste of Liberty Station. From 5 pm to 9 pm, Liberty Station invites locals to explore the many restaurants located in the old Naval Training Facility. Much like the Taste of Hillcrest, this event is a self-guided walking tour, allowing you to skip or add on stops as you’d like. There will be great food, live music, and art exhibits throughout the event. San Diego classics like Corvette Diner, Oggi’s and Soda and Swine are just three of the 20+ participating restaurants. Pop into Soda and Swine to try their Hog Sliders and the Dirty Fries which are topped with meatballs, bacon, mushroom cream, jalapeno, red pepper, and parmesan cheese. Tickets for A Taste of Liberty Station are $30 in advance and $40 the day of. If you can’t make it on April 24th, we have a Liberty Station Walking Tour every Saturday at 2 pm!
April 27 & 28th, 2019
The Tequila and Taco Music Festival will be taking over downtown on April 27th and 28th. Combining two of San Diego’s favorite things, this 21+ adult event is the best way to spend the last weekend of April. Admission is just $10 or $40 if you want the full tequila experience. General admission gives you access to the food vendors, craft beer, Margherita booths, and live music. The tequila experience includes all the aforementioned and 6 half-ounce samples of tequila and a souvenir tasting glass. If you’re over the age of 21, you won’t want to miss this
