It’s that time of year again! Yes, you heard us correctly, it’s San Diego Restaurant Week. For those unfamiliar, SDRW is a week-long event featuring restaurants from all over San Diego County where participating restaurants dish out special lunch and dinner menus for discounted prices. From January 20th to 27th, enjoy prix fixe menus with delectable starters, entrees, and more. Don’t forget to tag us on Instagram when you go to any of the following restaurants.
If you’ve followed us for a while you know that we love Solare Ristorante, one of the staples on our Liberty Station Walking Tour. Named San Diego’s “Best Italian Restaurant 2018” by San Diego Magazine, Solare is a must during San Diego Restaurant Week. Solare will be preparing a $30 2-course lunch menu and a $40 3-course dinner menu for the week-long event. During lunch, make sure you start with the Zuppa di Ceci e Pancetta, a traditional Tuscan garbanzo bean soup, with crunchy pancetta, and cherry tomatoes, followed by the Gnocchi Viola Quattro Formaggi Asparagi e Noci, house-made purple gnocchi served with four different Italian cheese’. For dinner, we recommend starting with Solare’s famous lobster bisque, Zuppa all’Aragosta. Main courses include Gnocchi al Gorgonzola, Ravioli di Spinaci e Ricotta, and Pesce del Giorno. Finish the meal with a glass of wine and Panna Cotta all’Aranci.
Pair San Diego Restaurant Week deals with Brockton Villa’s stunning views of the Pacific Ocean. Come in for lunch for just $15 or the full 3-course dinner for only $30. For lunch you have the option to pick your own 2-courses, meaning an entree and a starter or an entree and a dessert. We would start with the Epic Chowder, which is made with sea clams, blue crab, bacon Yukon potatoes, and saffron cream. Follow that up with the Artisan Grilled Cheese with Tomato Fennel Bisque, perfect for rainy January days. Dinner entrees include Jidori Chicken Mole, Wild Mushroom & Butternut Squash Risotto, and Ginger Chili Glazed Atlantic Salmon. For an extra $15 you can add a wine pairing to the prix fixe meal.
Known for their mouth-watering pizza and pasta, Cucina Enoteca is a beautiful Italian restaurant located in Flower Hill Promenade. Stop in after shopping for their $20 lunch menu or for date night with their $30 dinner menu. Regardless of when you dine, we recommend the Mushroom Pizza, which is accompanied by goat cheese, fried onion, and truffle oil. Other amazing dishes on the menu include the Baked Rigatoni, Casalingo Pepperoni + Fennel Sausage Pizza, and the Cucina Burger. If you stop in for dinner, end your meal with a Malted Milk Budino or Pannetone Bread Pudding to round out the delicious Italian meal.
Located inside of the Pendry Hotel downtown, Provisional Kitchen is one of the more upscale choices on our list, which is exactly why you should take advantage of their San Diego Restaurant Week deals. With a $20 prix fixe lunch menu and a $40 dinner menu, this is a steal in comparison to normal downtown dining prices. During lunch choose your own 2-course adventure with a starter and entree or entree and dessert. If you choose to start your lunch with a starter, we love the Chicken Tortilla Soup, which is garnished with avocado, pickled onions, cilantro, and cotija cheese. Lunch entrees include an Angus Beef Burger, Pork Cubano, and a Grilled Local Fish Sandwich. If you go for dinner, we recommend one of their famous wood-fired pizzas. The Squash Blossom pizza prepared with garlic confit, honey ricotta, and mozzarella is exceptional.
It’s no secret that Pacific Beach isn’t the dining capital of San Diego. Known for its nightlife, exceptional culinary experiences take a backseat to sports and beach bars.
