Where to EAT for New Year’s in San Diego

It’s time to “ring in the new year” as they say and we couldn’t think of a better way to start, continue, or end your celebration on a high note. Although there’s A TON of happenings for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day in San Diego, here’s a few of our personal favorites for you to enjoy! Whether you want to reserve a romantic dinner, a wild night on the town, or something in between we found something for all to enjoy.

Coronado

Extending their holiday dinner specials and now with 6 locations throughout San Diego, Brigantine Seafood & Oyster Bar will be offering Lobster dinner specials on New Year’s Eve as well as the full menu for those less fenturous (that’s food adventurous and, yes, we made it up). Reservations are recommended since seats are limited and fill up quick!

Downtown

Grant Grill

The Grant Grill located inside the U.S. Grant Hotel in Downtown San Diego has multiple options for your New Year’s Eve celebration. Whether you prefer an early start, an elegant dining experience, or a fun-filled evening you can be sure to find any and all of this at this participating private tour location. The Pre-Celebration Dinner seats guests between 5:30pm and 6:30pm followed by 3-courses prepared by San Diego Food & Wine Festival’s “Chef of the Fest,” Executive Chef Mark Kropczynski. Click the link above for more info.

They are also offering a New Year’s Eve Dinner Package which includes 6-courses with an optional pairing. Tickets start at $129 for this package which will also include live music, a Midnight Countdown and complimentary Champagne to toast the new year.

Encinitas

Want to get a head start on your New Year’s resolutions? Head to EVE Encinitas on New Year’s Day for a Laughing Meditation with Sarito Sun. As a laughologist and meditation teacher, Sarito, will help heal the soul with a fun-filled workshop based on laughter. With over 30 years experience, 13 of which includes teaching, you will surely not want to miss this revolutionary session. Join Sarito & EVE from 2-2:30pm and grab a healthy, delicious vegan bite afterward!

Don’t forget the Bite San Diego walking Encinitas restaurant tour restarts on Saturday, January 7.

La Jolla

The Rooftop La Jolla

Looking for “Fun in SD?!” Head over to the Rooftop La Jolla Lounge and celebrate with the social group “Fun in SD.” The Party starts at 9pm New Year’s Eve and will last though the New Year until 2am. Pre-Sale tickets are limited to “Fun in SD” group members and they’ll be selling tickets at the door to regular attendees for $40. Your ticket includes one complimentary champagne toast at midnight. The dress code is black tie or cocktail dress so come dressed in your best and be ready to blow the roof-top off!

Following along with their weekly food inspired events, Solare Ristorante is host to the Solare New Year’s Eve Dinner & Party! They’ll be hosting two separate diners, one in the late-afternoon/evening and a second from 6:30pm-2am. Each dinner is complete with a 4-course dinner created by Chef Accursio Lota. Although reservations are closed for this event be sure to follow their Instagram, Twitter or Facebook for updates throughout the evening.

Little Italy

Albacore Two Ways | Seared | Tartare

One of the newest restaurant participants on the Downtown/Little Italy San Diego city tour, Bracero Cocina is also one of the most popular thanks to Chef/Owner Javier Plascencia & team. For New Year’s Eve, Bracero Cocina will be serving a special $65 4-course dinner menu complete with one starter, two small hot plates, one entree, and one dessert. For an additional $35 you can include a drink pairing with each course. Reservation are filling up quick so be sure to call ASAP if you want to chomp at one of the hottest restaurants in America’s Finest City.

North Park

If fine wine and bubbly are more your specialty, then head over to Splash Wine Lounge in North Park for bubbly flights, bubbly cocktails, a build-your-own bubbly bar and, of course, over 30+ self serving wines on tap. They will be open until 1am and will have a special midnight toast for those that attend. No reservations required, but we recommend getting there early to reserver yourself a table.
