About the Route
Our Coronado Walking Tour Is For Ages 16+.
Our Coronado walking tour starts on the beautiful San Diego Bay and guides you down bustling Orange Avenue, towards the historic Hotel Del Coronado. During your walk hear how “The Crown City” has roots that tie back to Spanish settlers dating to the seventeenth century.
Get the inside story about how this city influenced movies like “The Wizard of Oz” and drew a range of celebrities from Marilyn Monroe to Babe Ruth to a plethora of U.S. Presidents. Take the co-pilot seat as your guide explains the significance of Coronado and Naval Aviation and how Charles Lindbergh’s transatlantic flight started at this location. Listen as your guide tells the history behind the Coronado Bridge, take in the beautiful San Diego skyline, and see first hand where the first ferries’ picked up and dropped off Island guests.
While you gab and grab grub, your tour guide will tell you all about the funky little “Peninsula in the Port of San Diego” and how it’s influenced California culture.
The food you are sampling is surely the best food San Diego’s little sister island has to offer. Take a bite out of the island’s only lobster roll, feast on a seasonal menu bite using local farmer’s market products, have a generous helping of olive oil & balsamic vinegar, sink your teeth into the local’s favorite pizza, enjoy two samples from a Coronado Island landmark, and finish off with a refreshing cup of Gelato.
One thing is certain, you’re going to leave this tour feeling stuffed. Bring family, friends and get ready for an afternoon of bites you’re sure to remember!
