Restaurant Spotlight: Napizza

July 6, 2016Spotlight Review

“We believe in healthy & local caring for our planet”
We know a place where pizza makes the world a better place and that is Napizza.

Napizza has become a growing part of the San Diego pizza community. Serving up some of the freshest pizzas in San Diego, Napizza is known for their sleek look with gourmet toppings and fresh, healthy ingredients.

There are three different locations: Hillcrest, the 4S Commons Town Center and Little Italy. We are lucky enough to have the Little Italy location on our downtown/Little Italy walking tour.

If you live in downtown San Diego, lucky for you, Napizza provides free delivery for all locals! Don’t forget to check out their lunch specials either. “The Happy Belly Combos”.

Napizza’s dough is really something special, they let nature do the work. The dough evolves for 72 hours enabling the low-temperature yeast to work slowly with the high-protein flour. The flour comes from a small family mill straight from Italy! This process allows Napizza to provide us good with 80% less yeast!  If that hasn’t sold you yet, don’t worry, there is still more.

Napizza not only makes the some of the freshest pizzas, they also care for our planet.

They believe that local produce and meats are the most important part in providing tons of nutrients and supporting our local environments. All of their poultry and meats are 100% antibiotic and hormone free, 80% of their raw ingredients come from within 400 miles of San Diego and all papers, plastic and compost are recycled on a daily basis. Now that’s what life is all about, keeping our planet clean!

Now let’s talk food.

Napizza is known for their hand-pressed artisan pizzas. Not only do they serve up pizzas, they also make some to-die-for salads, fresh soup and desserts.

There are so many different types of pizza you won’t know where to begin. You can choose from: Margherita, pepperoni, bapo, veggo, Pollo y pesto, bacon, a “spice me up”, bbq chicken, lasagna or truffle porcini. Don’t forget to ask about their daily specials!

If you are in for something a little bit thicker, their other options include their famous focaccia paninis (made fresh to order every morning). These paninis include the BLTA and The Baja Chicken (a personal favorite of mine).

But maybe pizza is not your thing, that’s okay-always go along for the ride. You can get one of the best salads here. They are healthy, fresh and made with wild-caught fish and local meats.

If you’re a plain jane, grab a house salad or a season salad. If not, choose from a superfood salad, a spinici salad, ma.bi salad, pollo, natural angus salad, a greek quinoa salad or the ahi tuna salad (pictured below). This establishment is far from normal.

And we can’t forget about the Napizza team. They are absolutely amazing! Not only are they friendly and fun, but they provide excellent customer service. Their farm to table concept is loved by the locals and the environment is casual yet nothing about their food is casual.

One of the coolest parts of the dessert they offer is there Nutella pizza. Yep, you heard it right Nutella + Pizza. Unbelievable! They also have cannolis, gelato and tiramisu!
