Restaurant Spotlight: SD Taproom

July 27, 2016Spotlight Review

Let’s start by saying, SD Taproom is a casual, fun environment located in one of the most over-looked neighborhoods in San Diego, Pacific Beach. For all you twenty-somethings, Pacific Beach is known as that “hip” area with a booming bar scene for that “younger” generation. But that’s not all Pacific Beach is and SD Taproom is a great example of this. SD Taproom is the perfect balance between old and new and they never stop growing!

SD Taproom is a beer-only bar with a rustic design and an emphasis on pub-food. We love SD Taproom because it encompasses all of the good parts of PB (as the locals call it). It also follows four of our favorite B words: Beer, Buddies, Brunch and local Business. It was founded in the very early years of the San Diego Craft Beer Revolution. (Yes, that’s a thing and one of the most interesting parts of the growth of the city). SD Taproom focuses on craft beer, amazing food and hospitality unlike any other restaurant around. It is definitely a local favorite and one of the best craft beer bars in the San Diego!

You know here at Bite, we love food, but we also love beer so before we get to the tasty food, we want to make sure you know about their ‘beer guidelines’.

SD Taproom has a very strong philosophy featuring their “Brewery to Glass” making sure every drop of beer given out is the same quality and fresh of the brewery that created it. For anyone that knows beer, you can definitely taste the excellence and SD Taproom’s beer ninjas will guide you through an exquisite craft beer experience. There are over 50 beers on tap and 100+ bottles! Wowza!
Bite San Diego is lucky to have SD Taproom as a part of their Pacific Beach walking food tour. Not only is their staff some of the friendliest and most helpful people around, their food selection is huge and everything is delicious.

Starting with an appetizer, grab anything from chips and guac to some beer soakers, chicken wings, garlic knots, a Caprese salad or much much more. There is no such thing as a picky eater here because the food options are endless. One of their most unique appetizers they offer are the beer-brined fries. Load them up with cheese, garlic, or just have some regular or sweet potatoes.

If you’re not in the mood for an appetizer try one of their pizzas, salads, subs, burgers, pastas or even a delicious dessert. No matter what you are in the mood for SD Taproom is bound to have something to satisfy those taste buds. There are so many options I did not want to ruin the fun for you so if you are interested here is a link to SD Taproom’s menu where you can choose a plate for yourself!

SD Taproom is not limited to just that, you haven’t even heard about the best part: their specials. SD Taproom dedicates most days to a great deal, let me tell you about these.
