David, our stellar guide who leads the Bite San Diego La Jolla tour, had a few minutes to catch up with us recently. We decided to ask him a few open ended questions to get to know him a little better.

David, where did you grow up if not in San Diego?

David: I was born and raised in the Sonoran desert, one of the largest and warmest deserts in the world. My family’s home was located near beautiful San Carlos Bay in the Gulf of California. (See here for beautiful pictures of San Carlos Bay)

BITE: Wow, that is such a beautiful place David. Why did you decide to leave and head north to San Diego?

David: I moved to San Diego to continue studying performing arts, and I’ve never been able to leave! The City and people make it tough for me to go. I love it here!

BITE: So when you aren’t leading guests through La Jolla, what do you for work and fun?

David: Personally, I love exploring new places in San Diego. Professionally, I’m an actor, model, and singer.

BITE: What is your favorite part about being a tour guide?

David: I really enjoy getting to meet so many new people, both locals and visitors, and being able to show them a part of this (La Jolla) beautiful area.

BITE: Aside from the delicious food, what do you think is the best part about taking guests through different neighborhoods in San Diego?

David: I think the best part is being outdoors. No one can complain about the beautiful neighborhood of La Jolla which has become almost my second home.

BITE: Do you like to cook for yourself, or do you prefer to eat out?

David: I have to admit I LOVE food, and I’m way better at eating it than cooking myself (it’s such a sacrifice, right?). Still, I have some good family recipes in my back pocket.

BITE: Do you care to share any with us?

David: Sorry, they are SECRET family recipes passed down, and I can’t let out any secrets.

BITE: Since you like to eat away from your kitchen, is there anywhere in particular you like to go for a “Bite?”

David: I love pastries and indian food, quite a combination I know. I have been able to find my own secret places where I can go and enjoy with my friends in San Diego.

BITE: So again with the secrets, huh?

David: Yep! Sorry, but if I told you then the secret would be out for everyone!

BITE: All secrets aside, David, if you could be a tour guide anywhere in the world, where would you choose and why?

David: If I could lead tours anywhere in the world I would pick Peru. I lived there for some time and the food there is to die for! The whole Peruvian culture is amazing and, of course, the country is such a beautiful place that I could easily call home.

BITE: If we told you that you had to pick 2 things to eat for the rest of your life, what would they be?

David: I would choose pastries and only pastries. I guess you could say I have somewhat of a sweet tooth and pasties are my guilty pleasure. Speaking of which, is it time for a run?

BITE: Running with a pastry? SURE! All jokes aside we have one last question for you. If you could have a food super power, what would you choose?

David: I would choose to make calories disappear from food. This way I can eat all the pastries I want, and no one would have to worry about counting those darn things anymore!

BITE: David, thanks so much for chatting with us today. We had no idea that you were so in love with pastries, and that you’re a great person to keep secrets.

If you haven’t had a chance to hear all about La Jolla with David, then we highly recommend booking a tour soon and doing so! Our Bite La Jolla tour runs every Saturday and Sunday at 1pm, and David is the guide for both tours!

Thanks for reading and Happy Chomping, Fellow Foodie!
